Internationally educated nurses applying to the Hawaii Board of Nursing can order an ECE® Credential Evaluation Assessment (CEA) Report for Initial RN Licensure or Endorsement RN Licensure. Hawaii requirements include foreign nursing license or registration records and nursing education transcripts; secondary school information is not required under the current state table. ECE® nursing forms and transcripts must be submitted as instructed. An English Language Proficiency (ELP) Report may be required when instruction, textbooks, and clinical practice were not solely in English. At-home ELP exams are not accepted. Order through MyECE®.
Which ECE® report is used for Hawaii RN licensure?
Use the Credential Evaluation Assessment (CEA) Report for Initial RN Licensure when seeking a first U.S. RN license before taking the NCLEX-RN® examination. Use the Endorsement RN Licensure Report when a U.S. RN license is already held and Hawaii licensure is being requested by endorsement.
Does Hawaii require secondary school information from internationally educated nurses?
No. The current Hawaii requirements table lists secondary school information as not required for both initial and endorsement RN applicants. Foreign nursing license or registration records and nursing education records are still required and must be submitted as instructed.
Is English language proficiency required for Hawaii nursing licensure?
An ELP Report may be required when nursing instruction, textbooks, and clinical practice were not solely in English. Applicants educated entirely in English may qualify for an exemption. At-home ELP exams are not accepted for the ECE® nursing evaluation process.
How do internationally educated nurses order a report for the Hawaii Board of Nursing?
Begin in MyECE®, choose Hawaii as the state board, and select the correct report for initial or endorsement licensure. Follow the document checklist and use the available nursing forms so official records are sent by the appropriate educational institutions and licensing authorities.
