Our Mission

To promote the betterment of individuals’ lives and society by ensuring that educational qualifications are fairly and accurately recognized across borders.

Who We Are

We are over 90 people passionate about helping others create a better life by providing an equivalency for the education they earned in their home countries to one earned in the United States or Canada.

Most of us live and work in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where our headquarters is, but we have colleagues who work remotely across the United States.

We love working for ECE, and many of us have been here for more than 20 years. A few of us have been here more than 30 years. We know this longevity isn’t something you find at many organizations. We think it’s special, and we’re thankful to work with such great colleagues and customers.

What We Do

Educational Credential Evaluators® (ECE) is a nonprofit organization that prepares foreign education credential evaluation reports. A credential evaluation compares academic and professional degrees earned in one country to academic and professional degrees earned in another.

Colleges, universities, employers, licensing boards, and governments use these academic assessments to evaluate foreign education as part of the admission, hiring, immigration, or licensure process.

Unlocking the Promise of International Education®

This isn’t just a tagline – it’s at the heart of what we do. We appreciate international education because many of us have studied or earned degrees overseas. Several of us working at ECE had our academic records evaluated, too, so we know what it’s like to be in your position.

We understand the importance of a credential evaluation in your plans and how difficult it may be to obtain proper documentation.

It’s why we’re a little more flexible than our competitors when it comes to documentation requirements.

It’s also why we treat you with respect and courtesy. It’s what we appreciated when we were customers.

ECE by the Numbers

10: months for new evaluator training
14: years of our evaluators’ tenure at ECE, on average
24: hours within which all messages are returned
90: percent customer satisfaction, according to a recent survey
38,000+: evaluations completed last year
800,000+: evaluations completed since founded

More Than 40 Years of Experience at Your Service

We understand educational systems from around the world. In fact, last year we evaluated the education of people from 190 different countries.

ECE® Evaluators have more than 500 years of combined experience, and we pride ourselves on producing educational credential assessments with quality, thoroughness, and integrity.

Students know ECE as an organization that provides reports quickly, has superior customer service (chat, message, or talk via LiveChat) and is accepted at more than 2,000 institutions in the U.S., Canada, and New Zealand.

Our reach is wide, but we’re always trying to connect with students where they are. That’s why we launched ececredentialevaluation.com specifically for students in China.

ECE Helps Educate Those in the Educational Credential Evaluation Community

We’ve seen a lot in our 40+ years of serving our customers, and we share that knowledge with our fellow evaluators in the field.

We provide support and training to educational institutions and other businesses that perform their own credential evaluation.

Since 1980 ECE has served the educational credential community through…

  • Resources, such as the ECE® Connection and ECE® e-Learning webinar trainings, to share our knowledge with others in the field
  • Participation in trade organizations and support of industry initiatives
  • Speaking at industry events

ECE Gives Back

Through ECE® Aid, our charitable initiative, we’re able to provide free evaluation reports to vulnerable and displaced individuals.
