Meet Dan Benischek, Chief Operating Officer
As ECE’s Chief Operating Officer, Dan Benischek spends his days bringing people, processes, and technology together to help ECE work at its best. With experience across operations, customer service, technology, manufacturing, and financial services, he knows a thing or two about keeping things moving. In this Meet the Team Q&A, Dan shares what he enjoys most about working at ECE, the book that changed how he approaches challenges, and why chili and cinnamon rolls might just be the ultimate football pairing.

Q: What's your background? What did you do before joining ECE?
Prior to joining ECE, I had spent the previous 10 years with a large HVAC distribution firm as VP of Operations, Customer Experience, and Technology. My background also includes positions with manufacturing and financial service companies as well.
Q: What do you do at ECE? What excites you most about your position and/or your team?
As Chief Operating Officer, I am responsible for the development and execution of effective production, customer experience, and IT operational strategies while ensuring that business goals and processes align with the mission and values of ECE. To put it simply, it's making sure we combine our people, processes, and technology in ways that best support our customers and our employees.
What excites me most about my position is getting to work with the amazing people and culture ECE has developed over our 45-year history.
Q: What do you like most about working at ECE?
Every day we work on ideas and projects which are focused on helping more customers pursue their dreams tomorrow, while at the same time improving the services and offerings we have today. It's uplifting, exhausting, and rewarding all at the same time!
Q: What are three words that describe ECE's culture?
Committed, Experienced, and People Centric.
Q: Are there any books or movies that you simply could not put down or kept thinking about long after you had read or watched them? Why?
The Gap and the Gain by Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy. Both on the business and personal side, this book really nails the idea not losing sight of what you've "gained" while you keep striving for an ideal which may or may not be obtainable. It stuck with me long after reading it, and I try to apply it when I'm up against a difficult challenge or opportunity.
Q: Do you have a favorite cuisine? If yes, a particular dish you love?
I love sushi, Italian food, and the occasional steak. My favorite combo to make for football Saturdays is Chili and Cinnamon Rolls. (Spicy and sweet, give it a try!)

Q. Vacation or staycation?
Vacation, my family loves travelling to a new place and exploring. We are more about finding our own adventures rather than organized tours.
Q. Netflix or Hulu?
Netflix, I used to get DVDs in the mail. DVDs!
Q. Night or morning?
Night, Night is when interesting things happen. Also, when family can generally be together.
Q. City or Country?
Country, I grew up near my grandfather's farm, so the country is always home for me.
Q. Wine or Beer?
Beer, German-Austrian heritage living in Wisconsin, enough said.
Q. Cooking or being cooked for?
Cooking, I love cooking, it's an experience vs. a destination.

Fiction, Reality surrounds us every day, give me a good escape read any day!
