We are approaching our national holiday, Independence Day. As we learn of the final round of Supreme Court decisions, including Affirmative Action, we are reminded that like many times in our history, the nation faces challenges that threaten to divide us.

A word from the President of ECE®

As we approach our national holiday, Independence Day, I, Margit Schatzman, the proud President of ECE, urge us to reflect on the values that unify us as a diverse and resilient nation. In the wake of recent Supreme Court decisions, including Affirmative Action, we are reminded that like many times in our history, the nation faces challenges that threaten to divide us.  But, patriotism manifests in many forms.  My definition of patriotism appreciates the many good things that our country embodies and acknowledges that the promise of a more perfect union is a never-ending goal toward which we constantly need to strive.  Democracy requires active participation and constant tending.

The pursuit of a more perfect union is an ongoing journey, requiring our continuous dedication.

Our organization strives to form a more perfect union by helping new Americans, aspiring Americans, and citizens of all nations who interact with our country to ensure that their education is properly recognized.  We help to make our nation a better place by recognizing the prior education of immigrants so they can contribute to our common prosperity and build good lives for themselves and their families.  This benefits all citizens of our country.

Celebrating Strength in Diversity

The diversity of our talented staff is one of our greatest strengths.  The differences that they bring to our organization help us to be more creative, nimble, kind, and productive.  We work to form a more perfect union in our microcosm of this country by acknowledging that we can constantly improve in our efforts to make people more welcome and included.

We need our government representatives, our business leaders, professional peers, and our religious, civic, and moral advocates – in short – our entire society, to step up to help us.  We need positive and supportive words and actions related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access.  With the support from those in power, we can do our job of helping form a more perfect union for the rights of all people in this country.
