New Guidance on 3-Year Degrees

Three‑year bachelor's degrees are now formally offered within the United States by recognized, accredited higher education institutions. In alignment with this new development, we consider comparable international undergraduate programs to be equivalent to a U.S. three-year bachelor's degree for evaluation purposes.

Because the United States now has both three-year and four-year bachelor’s degrees, the ECE® report will state the U.S. equivalence for each degree as either a three-year or a four-year bachelor’s degree. All admission decisions and transference of credits are determined by the admissions counselor or exam board. Some graduate programs may offer admission to their master's degree programs to holders of three-year bachelor's degrees, while others may not.

The degree equivalency in the report reflects our professional judgment and is advisory only. Other credential evaluation professionals or agencies may reasonably reach different conclusions based on their own standards and methodologies.
